Senior music director R.Govardhan has scored music for several Tamil films and he has also worked as an assistant of veteran music composers M.S.Viswanathan. Ilaiyaraja and Deva.
Govardhan is 88 and he leads an impoverished life with his wife. Recently he had made a request to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha for granting financial assistance for his day to day expenses.
Now the CM has immediately heeded to the octogenarian's request and has granted Rs.10 lakh which will be given through the MGR trust. The principal amount will be invested as a fixed deposit and the monthly interest of Rs.8,125 will be given to Govardhan for his expenses.
Knowing that the senior music composer has suffered a hearing impairment , the benevolent CM has ordered to for the medical treatment and also give a hearing-aid kit for him.
