Confusion around the release of 'The Da Vinci Code'

by mymazaa.com

It's a common sight to have release plans of Bollywood films going for a toss in the last moment. But rarely does one find a Hollywood movie faring the same way while getting released in India!

This is what's happening to Ron Howard's film, 'The Da Vinci Code', which is a Sony Pictures release. There were reports in the print media a couple of days back that the film's release on May 19th has been halted for a while in India due to its controversial subject. Since Mumbai's Catholic community planned to stage a protest against the movie as it threatened to hurt their sentiments, it was reported that Sony would be waiting for a while after looking at the worldwide response to the film when its global release happens on 19th May.

On the contrary, Sony has come back strongly by saying that they don't have any plans whatsoever to halt the film's release in India. They don't have any intentions to hurt anyone's sentiments but nevertheless are bringing the film to India as per the original schedule and plan. Also, the film is being sent to India Censor Board for a clearance.
