Dibakar Banerjee was recently mistaken as actor Rajit Kapoor, but the director has no qualms.

“All my life I’ve been mistaken for Rajit. Even our voices are the same. So I’m not surprised. Many years ago when Rajit Kapoor was doing the serial ‘Byomkesh Bakshi’ on Doordarshan, I was often mobbed by fans who thought I was him,” Banerjee said.

The director was in Kolkata Wednesday to promote his just released film “Love Sex Aur Dhokha” and groups of people who saw him disembark at the airport mistook him for Rajit Kapoor. The identity-crisis continued throughout the day even when he introduced himself as a director, people wanted to know if had switched from acting to direction.

And everywhere he had to explain he wasn’t Rajit Kapoor.

His just released “Love Sex Aur Dhokha” has three different stories.

“The first story is entitled ‘Superhit Pyar’. It stars newcomers Anshuman Jha and Shruti as a caste-differentiated couple. The second story is entitled ‘Paap Ki Dukaan’. It’s about a real-life MMS scandal.”

The third story ‘Badnaam Shohrat’ is about a sting operation carried out against a film star which is likely to create the maximum furore. Many feel the stung star played by Harry Pangri is based on Shakti Kapoor.

“Not at all,” says Banerjee.
