Election fever artists in fray

As the first round of nominations for 89 Assembly seats (election on 10th May) to Karnataka State out of 224 seats is closing on 23rd of April some of the prominent artists of Kannada cinema industry have filed their papers to the Assembly election. The second and third round of elections to the state assembly will be held on 16th May and 22nd May. We give you the list of cinema related personalities who have filed the nominations for the first round of elections.

Union Minister of state for information and broadcasting cum Member of Parliament from Mandya Lok Sabha seat the prominent Kannada film star Ambarish is degrading himself and contesting to the Assembly seat from Srirangapatna constituency. This is surprising and Ambarish is pinning hopes for positions in the Karnataka state in case Congress-I comes to power in the state.

100 plus comedy hero has been able to prove that he is a strong man from Turuvekere constituency to the High Command of Congress party. When Jaggesh name was not found in the first list uproar was seen in that constituency. The very next day the Congress I understood Jaggesh feeling and offered the Congress I ticket. Actor Jaggesh is very optimistic to win this time. In the last 2004 elections to the State assembly from Turuvekere constituency he was in the third place.

It is a fight between siblings in Soraba constituency. Actor turned politician Kumar Bangarappa the elder brother is vied with his brother Madhu Bangarappa, producer and Akash Audio studio owner. Both are sons of former chief minister Mr S.Bangarappa. The eldest son Kumar Bangarappa is fighting his brother on a Congress I ticket. He was minister too in the earlier Congress I ruled regime. Madhu Bangarappa is with his father S.Bangarappa. He is contesting on Samajawadi Party ticket from the home town Soraba.

Former chief minister H.D.Kumaraswamy also producer, distributor and exhibitor in Karnataka contesting from Ramanagaram and Channapatna constituencies. The former CM is facing the former CM Ramakrishna Hegde's daughter Mamatha Nachani on a Congress-I ticket, actor turned politician C.P.Yogishwar is contesting again from Channapatna constituency is an interesting three corner battle as of now.

The President of Kannada Film Producers Association Sandesh Nagaraj also a renowned producer is contesting on Janata Dal 'Secular ticket from Narasimharaja constituency.

In the Yelahanka assembly constituency the 'Mungaru Male' and 'Moggina Manasu' producer E.Krishnappa is contesting for Assembly seat on JD-S ticket is not a surprise. He has been recognized in the politics for a long time now. This is his debut election to the state.

Dialogue King Saikumar is contesting from BJP ticket from Bagepalli constituency. He is safe according to political pundits because he has the Telugu and Kannada border votes.

On the other side in Kollegal of Mysore district the 25 films old director S.Mahender husband of actress Shruthi is contesting on BJP ticket for the first time.
