Golden year for small films

2016 till now had taught Tollywood a valuable lesson. Content is the king. If the film boasts good content, even small films will get huge response. Even star heroes won't be spared if their films lack content. Films like 'Brahmotsavam', 'Dictator' and 'Sardaar' proved this. But, 2016 became a golden year for small budget films.

Sharwanad's 'Express Raja' became a hit in spite of having heavy competition with star heroes. Nani scored two super hits with 'Krishnagaadi Veera Prema Gaadha' and 'Gentleman' because of the strong content. Adivi Sesh's 'kshanam' which was a thriller became a blockbuster. Dubbing films 'Bichagaadu' too scored big in Telugu for its unique story. Even Trivikram's 'A Aa' collected over 50 crores. But, this year's surprise package was '#pellichoopulu' which entertained the audience so much that even after 5 weeks of its release, it is running with packed houses.

Even 'Manamantha' got good response from the audience. Now, Avasarala Srinivas's 'Jyo Achyutananda' too opened to positive reviews and will be a sure shot hit.

It is good to see people encouraging small films as they bring in the fresh talents to industry and it boosts the confidence of many aspiring film makers.
