'Life in a' METRO', UTV Motion Pictures' much-awaited film was premi¨red in the Theatreland of London -Leicester Square.
This busy quarter of metropolitan London is widely acclaimed for its big screens, classy theatres, royal premi¨res and a showbiz legacy that goes back to the early years of the past century. There could not have been a more apt venue for the international premi¨re of Indian cinemas' truly global and contemporary cult film of 2007.
London was a-blitz as it's favourite girl Shilpa Shetty's first film released after Big Brother. Shilpa made a global impact with her win both on and in the show.
Present at the red carpet gala premiere were Shilpa Shetty, with mother Sunanda and sister Shamita, director Anurag Basu, producer Ronnie Screwvala, Keith Vaz, Labour MP, Preeya Kalidas of'Bombay Dreams' fame amongst others.
METRO releases in world cinemas on May 11th. The film will have premi¨res in world metros like Dubai and Mumbai besides the one's held in London, Sydney, and Melbourne.
Another novel and first for an Indian film is that Metro would run for the length of 2.09 hours and it is going to be screened without intermission in theaters across the world (except for India). This trend is a move towards western movies that run without intermission.
Plato once said that the city is what it is because of what its citizens are. In UTV Motion Pictures' METRO, acclaimed Director Anurag Basu makes a similar statement as he portrays the life in a metro by drawing from lives of three couples that dwell in it.
METRO is an intertwined story of the emotional journeys of these six characters who live in modern metropolitan cities; they are portrayed on screen by a talented star ensemble cast comprising of Shilpa Shetty, Shiney Ahuja, Kay Kay Menon, Konkana Sen Sharma, Sharman Joshi, Kangna Ranaut and Irrfan Khan.
