The IIFA Weekend took Dubai by storm. And to celebrate the cosmopolitan spirit, the IIFA Foundation held the Fashion Extravaganza at the World Trade Centre, during the IIFA Weekend in Dubai. The event had some of India's leading models and celebrated Film stars walking the ramp and supporting the noble cause of the IIFA Foundation. What spoiled the glittering show were the allegations by a few super models like Diandra Soares that they were treated badly by the organizers and were not given proper accommodation.

Talking about the event, then this year the IIFA Foundation Fashion Extravaganza is the first time the IIFA Foundation event moved from sports to fashion. A 'Black Tie' evening was attended by the biggest stars of Indian Cinema, including Amitabh Bachchan Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Anil Kapoor, Ritiesh Deshmukh, Shilpa Shetty, Minisha Lamba (of Yahan fame) and Shiney Ahuja corporate chieftains and international dignitaries. The two celebrated fashion designers from the cinema industry, Manish Malhotra and Vikram Phadnis captured the beauty, passion and drama through their collections.

Both Designers with their exquisite collections enthralled the audience with colors and designs. Vikram Phadnis had vibrant colors and cuts, with flirty skirts and high boots, while Manish Malhotra gave us pure whites with streaks of reds, blues and yellow. Both fashion presentations had some of the biggest stars walk to ramp in support of the IIFA Foundation. Feroz Khan, Ayesha Takia and Choreographer Shiamak Davar walked the ramp for Vikram Phadnis. Manish's good friend Karan Johar walked the ramp with his show stopper. The IIFA Fashion Extravaganza evening was hosted by the beautiful and vivacious Dia Mirza.

The evening also created history with a unique hand printing ceremony by megastar of Indian Cinema Mr. Amitabh Bachchan for the IIFA Wall of Fame. The hand prints will be a permanent fixture at the IIFA Wall of Fame in the Dubai Studio City.

Renowned film director with a K-fixation, Karan Johar also added a special, intimate surprise. Live on stage he interviewed some of his film star friends including Anil Kapoor, Lara Dutta and Riteish Deshmukh. The evening's musical delight was an electrifying performance by British Asian hip hop stars- Hunters and India's percussion king Sivamani .
