K.V.Jayaram no more

One of the prominent directors of Kannada cinema K.V.Jayaram (58) who made only novel based films like Maralu Sarapani, Badadha Hoovu, Bettele Seve, Ibbani Karagithu, Olave Badhuku, Hosa Neru, Varna Chakra, Aruna Raga, Sharavegadha Saradara etc. in his honorable career of 33 years died on Saturday morning after a prolonged kidney failure. He leaves his wife and three children.

He was the eight times state award winner for his Kannada films direction. Born in the year 1950 in Mandya district K.V.Jayaram struggle started at the age of 14 when he lost his father. He moved to Mysore at the age of 18 years to complete B.Sc education. He joined the camp of noted director M.R.Vittal and flourished as an editor taking training in the camps of Raj Kapoor, Vijayanand, David Lean and Shantharam. A good editor could easily become a director K.V.Jayaram showed it in 1979 when he took up a very tough novel of T.K.Rama Rao to direct. He was also a screenplay and lyrics writer in his career. Winner of the prestigious SR Puttanna Kanagal award for the year 2000-2001 Jayaram edited 60 films directed 20 films and produced a few films.

A number of industry colleagues paid last respect to the departed soul. The cremation is at Harischandra Ghat on Saturday evening.
