Aishwarya, Rajinikanth's daughter, was chosen the United Nations Women's Goodwill Ambassador of South India, making her father proud. The public figure has opened up on the honour.
"My father is obviously extremely proud. The fact that I am talking about this and standing where I stand means that the men in my family have been very supportive and encouraging. I think it’s great that they are indirectly extending support through me. I think that will go a long way!" she has said in an interview.
Saying that India is a male-dominated society, she said in the interview that "one of the biggest recent achievements (for women) is that all the Olympic winners this time have been girls! And we all feel so proud. I think all issues like female infanticide, child marriage, dowry harassment, abuse of women — have to be addressed with equal importance".
Aishwarya Dhanush, the elder daughter of Thalaivar and the wife of Dhanush, has directed two Tamil films '3' and 'Vai Raja Vai', and she is presently working on the script for her third. She has been active in public life, and commands respect across the broad spectrum of society. The UN decision to appoint her as a goodwill ambassador is because of her image.
