Usha, who became very popular with the song 'Tooneegaa.. Tooneegaa'' gave her first stage appearance with 'Padutha' Teeyagaa'' programme in a popular private Telugu channel anchored by Padma Shri SP Balasubrahmanyam.
After earning compliments from several popular singers and musicians she started lending her voice to film songs and became a popular singer with films like 'Chitram and Jayam'.
She was married to Devarakonda Srikanth, a software engineer on June 12, 2005 and left for the US . Though she stopped singing for films, she continued to show her presence through stage shows there.
