Up in arms against 'Kuselan'

The Kanchipuram ' Thiruvallur Exhibitors Welfare Association has emphatically alleged that they have sustained heavy losses after screening 'Kuselan'. It is a known fact that they obtained screening rights by paying a heavy sum as Minimum Guarantee (MG).

According to Palaniappan, president of the Association, 'we were totally misled as the movie was marketed as an out-and-out Rajinikanth movie. But then he had only played a guest role in it. Even the actor's fans have not welcomed the film as expected. As a result we have sustained heavy losses.'

Alleging that the producers ' Kavithalaya and Seven Arts, should compensate the loss that they have suffered, Palaniappan said unless they do it, we theatre owners would not co-operate with the production houses in the future. Interestingly, Kavithalaya is currently producing a couple of films including the Arjun starrer 'Thiruvannamalai' and Jeevan's 'Krishna Leelai'.

The association also sought the intervention of Rajinikanth to sort out the issue. 'He is a man of noble heart, and repaid us after the loss suffered because of the 'Baba' debacle, a few years ago', they added.
