About 206,582 Indians, an increase of 14 percent, are pursuing higher education in American Universities and Institutions. Majority of the Indian Students have been opting for staying science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) courses.
As per US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) latest report, As many as 1.23 million international students with F (academic) or M (vocational) status studying at 8,697 schools in the US. While China leads with 378,986 students (5.2 percent growth), Indian stood at second spot.
Saudi Arabia managed to get highest growth rate of close to 20 percent. In the current academic year, 62,077 of its citizens are studying in US.
International Student Population increased by 2.9 percent in the past one year. US States California, New York and Texas have the highest number of foreign students. Though India ranked second after China in California and New York, It holds the top spot in Texas. 47 percent of the total foreign students in US are from Asia.
