Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar has said he is hopeful that Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officers rather than the government will help bring back the abducted Indians from Iraq.
Aiyar said that previously the Congress Government had done well to bring back Indians from conflict-ridden situations, but added that he didn't have faith in the "naive people, who had come without experience to office right now."
He told ANI, "I have great faith in the IFS, and I'm sure that our diplomats will succeed to a very very large measure in protecting Indian communities that are endangered in West Asia, as a result of the ongoing conflict there."
Aiyar added that he believed that his "former colleagues in the IFS will do a good job of making up for the deficiencies of the political leadership.
