Paruppu Urandai Kozhambu to mix with rice and have a go at. This dish can be made with Tamarind or with thick buttermilk. A very tasty stuff, it goes as a side-dish with Dosas too.

Preparation Method

  1. 1 Soak Gram Dal in Water for a couple of hours.
  2. 2 Grind it to a very coarse mix, adding Red Chilies, Fennel seed and 1/2 tsp Salt.
  3. 3 Make small lime sized balls from the mixture and steam them in idli plates in a pressure cooker.
  4. 4 Take a pan, heat Oil and add Mustard.
  5. 5 When the Mustard splutter, add the Onion and saute for a while.
  6. 6 Add Coriander Seedss powder, chilli and Turmeric Powderr powders and fry for few minutes adding Water.
  7. 7 Now add the steamed dal balls with this and cook for few minutes.
  8. 8 Grind the Coconut Grated with some Water to form a fine paste and add to the kozHambu.
  9. 9 Paruppu Urundai KuzHambu is ready to serve.
