The president and secretary of the Movie Artistes Association, Mr K Nagababu and Mr Mallikarjuna Rao, in a statement, condoled the death of popular artiste of yesteryears G Varalakshmi. In a statement they said, 'G Varalakshmi is a name to reckon with in the Telugu film industry. She was a great artiste. It was due to her performance that some films became big hits. The MAA deeply mourns the death of the great artiste.'
'Varakatnam' to be a message-oriented movie
The film 'Varakatnam' produced in 1968 with the late NTR and Krishnakumari in the lead had bagged the 'cash award' from the then Union government. Recently, a Tamil film 'ABCD' directed by Saravana Subbaiah with Shyam as hero and Sneha as heroine was released and proved a big hit. The same is being dubbed into Telugu as 'Varakatnam' by N Sairam @ NVP Satyanarayana. Speaking about the film, the producer says, 'This is a very good social message film in this Tamil film with Shyam and Sneha in the lead. Saravana Subbaiah directed it and D Imaan scored tunes. Presently DTS mixing work is in progress. After completing all the formalities, we will release the film in June.' Bosubabu, who penned dialogues for the film says, 'It has become a bane for the girl child to take birth in our society. While some parents were resorting to abortion, while some others killing the girl child immediately after delivery and in some cases, the parents were selling away the children for a paltry Rs 100 or Rs 1,000. While some girls were suffering from the harassment by their in-laws. The main reason behind this problem is nothing but dowry. Our film is aimed at curbing this social malpractice.'
'Vaana' launched under MS Raju direction
Popular producer MS Raju had produced several hit films like 'Devi, Manasanta Nuvve, Nee Sneham, Okkadu, Varsham, Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, Pournami and Aata' on the banner of Sumant Arts. For all his films, MS Raju himself would pen the screenplay. It is well aware that MS Raju had good knowledge over all the 24 crafts that were needed for making a film. Now he is going to wield the megaphone for a film by turning a director. A successful Kannada film 'Mungaru Malai' is being remade in Telugu on the banner of Sumanth Arts in association with SPR Entertainments Ltd. The shooting film was launched at Sakhileshpur near Bangalore on August 18. Natural rain is needed for the shooting of the film for a longer period. That is why, the film was launched at that place. However, MS Raju is keeping the details of the artistes and technicians very secret. According to Film Nagar sources, MS Raju's son Sumanth is being introduced as hero through this movie.
Vara Mullapudi film completes shoot in Vizag
Shooting of a film directed by Vara Mullapudi and presented by SS Rajamouli on the banner of Markwell Entertaiments with Rajiv Kanakala, Allari Naresh, Preeti Jhangiani in the lead was almost complete. Incidentally, the film has the screenplay from another noted young director Yeleti Chandrasekhar. The shooting of the film was held for 15 days in Vizag and after that the unit left Vizag for the shooting of remaining part. Before concluding the film, again the film unit had left for Vizag and shot for about a week there till September 8, with which the unit had wrapped up the shooting. Rajiv Kanakala is playing the hero in the movie, while Naresh is playing a negative role. Music is by Vijay Kurakula, and action scenes are by Ram-Lakshman.
'Vaana' audio launch on December 14
While on M S Raju, it has to be mentioned that he is now making a film under the Sumanth Arts Banner. No, this time around, he is directing a film. The film will be his debut venture and he is starting with the remake of a Kannada hit. He is making it in association with SPR Entertainments. The film had grossed about Rs 45 crore in Karnataka. Now, M S Raju's film is being readied for a Sankranti release. Earlier, M S Raju had released Okkadu in 2003, Varsham in 2004, Nuvvostanante Nennodantana for 2005 Sankranti. This year, he is turning a director and says that the film will have good music and action like all his films. The film also highlights the importance of sacrifice and love, he says. The film's shooting will be completed by December 20 and the audio launch is being planned for December 14. Music of the film is by Kamalakar and cinematography is by Sekhar Joseph.
Varma's 'Raktha Charithra' begins Nov 28
The sensational movie maker Ram Gopal Varma, is presently busy with his latest venture based on the backdrop of Rayala Seema faction, titled as 'Raktha Charithra'. It is known that the story is based on the assassination of Paritala Ravi. To gather information on the incident RGV himself is touring the locations of Rayala Seema. As a part of it, he has recently met Maddela Cheruvu Suri the main suspect in the case, and also Paritala Sunita wife of Partala Ravi, for the script work. The shooting will begin from 28th November as planned. Debutants Dharma and Raksha are being introduced as directors with this film. It is learnt that the film will be completed by April 2009, with a planned schedule of regular shooting.
