Car manufacturer Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) Wednesday said it will raise annual production capacity to 210,000 units from the present 150,000 units to end the long wait for its vehicles.
TKM has two plants near Bangalore. In the first one manufacturing Innova, Corolla Altis and Fortuner, production will be increased from 80,000 units to 90,000 units in the third quarter of 2011, the company said.
In the second plant making Etios, the annual production capacity will go up from 70,000 to 120,000 units, it said.
“The expansion will be carried out in a phased manner starting July 2011, extending into the second quarter of 2012. The 120,000 units will also include 20,000 units of the Corolla Altis, shifted from the first plant to the second plant in the first half of 2012,” a statement said.
TKM director Hiroshi Nakagawa said the growing demand for Innova, Fortuner and Etios had prompted capacity expansion.
