Lack of good script-writers is a cause of concern in Kollywood now.
A few decades ago, there were script writers and they were treated on a par with the director and the music-director.
Their role was greatly hailed and they managed to come out with good scripts. Unfortunately in the past few years, directors started to double up as script writers and the quality was badly reflected in the movies that they churned out.
Internationally-acclaimed director Manirathinam, says, 'Indeed yes. Unlike Malayalam and Bengali movies, we lack good script writers. In my case, I am forced to pen scripts, since I cannot find a good script writer. My attention gets diverted.'
Adding further , he says, 'If we are committed to come out with quality films in future, we have to nurture the skills of penning scripts among youngsters and bring them to limelight'.
