Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh governor N D Tiwari resigned from his chair on Saturday, a day after a TV expose showing the senior Congress leader allegedly indulging in sexual escapades in the Raj Bhavan here.
However, according media reports, Tiwari said he is resigning on 'health grounds'. But it is being assumed that the 85-year-old's alleged "sexcapedes" exposed on Friday is the actual reason behind today's move.
It was obvious on Saturday that the Centre would remove Tiwari from his post.
The Andhra Pradesh government is likely to send a report on the incident to the Centre. The Union Home Ministry has sought a report from the Andhra Pradesh government, media reports said.
Tiwari was shown in a compromising position with "call girls" by a local TV channel on Friday.
The images in possession of ABN Andhra Jyoti channel allegedly showed "N D Tiwari" lying without clothes in bed with three women.
Later, the Andhra Pradesh High Court has stopped the telecast after the counsel of the governor filed a PIL in the court.
