Box Office Analysis-July 25 , 2007

Sivaji: The Boss has managed to continue its domination at the box office. The mega-budget movie featuring Rajnikanth has successfully completed 40 days and is still going strong. Giving a close run to Sivaji is Ajith's Kireedam, which was released last week.

Sivaji, produced by AVM and directed by Shankar, is running to full houses in Chennai. Rajnikanth's fresh image on the screen, his excellent portrayal as MGR (Mottai Boss), catchy musical score by Rahman and the grand sets in the song sequences have attracted audience to theatres.

Kireedam has opened in style. Ajith is always considered a 'King of Opening' at the box office. His fans have not disappointed him this time. Directed by A L Vijay, the movie starring Ajith, Trisha and Raj Kiran in pivotal roles has every ingredient in it to become a blockbuster. Ajith plays a youth, who aspires to become a police officer to realize his father's dreams. G V Prakash's music and Thiru's cinematography have won rave reviews.
Cinematographer ' director Jeeva's Unnale Unnale has gone ahead to complete a 100-day run, while movies including Chennai 600028, Naan Avanillai and Karuppasamy Kuthagaitharar are still attracting decent run to complete a century.

Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, the fifth part of the series, witnessed a good opening. Kids thronged in large numbers to make it a houseful weekend in Chennai. Since the movie coincided with the book release of the final part of the Harry Potter, it attracted enough attraction.

Mohanlal's Malayalam release Hello witnessed good turn out in Chennai. Released in over four screens in Chennai, Hello starring Mohanlal has collected good revenue.

The coming weeks would be a real contest at the box office with a host of films hitting the screens. Sundar C's Veerappu, Karan's Thee Nagar, Madhavan's Arya, P Vasu's Thottal Poo Malarum, Bruce Willis starrer Die Hard Four and mega star Chiranjeevi's Shankardada Zindabad, directed by Prabhu Deva.
