Film buffs in Tamil Nadu are left disappointed following the State government's ban on the release of controversial movie Da Vinci Code, which concludes that Jesus Christ married Mary Magdalene.

Set for release this week-end, the movie was banned by the State government following representations from some sections of the Christians. The movie has been dubbed and distributed by Sony Pictures in association with Anu Roshini films.

Expressing his surprise at the ban, the distributor, said, 'the Pope of Vatican as well as the College of Bishops in Delhi had given clearance to the film with a few restrictions, which we agreed to comply with. When all efforts were taken to screen the movie, this ban has come a rude shock to us'.

We are ready to screen the movie for Chief Minister and other officials and ready to make necessary corrections. Hope they give permission to release the movie'.

The movie was supposed to be screened in 50 cinema Halls in Tamil Nadu including Sathyam Cinemas and Mayajaal.
