The Tamil film industry has decided to go in on a hunger protest on Friday to condemn the attack on Tamils by 'language chauvinists' in Karnataka over the Hogenakkal issue.

An emergency meeting of Tamil Films Producers' Council was convened today and it decided to hold a demonstration also on the Tamilnadu- Karnataka border at Hosur.

The meeting witnessed strong condemnation against Kannada organisations.

The meeting was attended by Producers Council president Ramanarayanan, vice- president Sivasakthi Pandian and other office-bearers. On behalf of the actors' association, Vijayakumar and Sathyaraj participated in the meeting and extended their support to the decision taken by the producers.

Also, it is said that a decision on conducting a demonstration at Hosur would be announced later at a joint press meet in which actors association president Sarathkumar would take part.

Demanding the withdrawal of Karunanidhi's statement, Karnataka Rakshna Vedike, a linguistic movement, warned that screening of Tamil films would not be allowed in the city till the Tamilnadu Chief Minister tendered a public apology.
