No major Tamil film releasing on July 15th, ahead of Superstar’s Kabali release

Every Friday, we tend to see at least one major Tamil film with a prominent star releasing in a decent number of screens. Only on very rare occasions, we do not witness this. Looks like this week will be one such rare occasion.

The first week of July saw Appa and Jackson Durai releasing, while the second week had Dhilluku Dhuddu. Initially, there were a few films planned for July 15th release, including Jai’s Tamil Selvanum Thaniyar Anjalum, but eventually, it got postponed, as the king is arriving the next week. Yes, Superstar Rajinikanth’s gangster drama Kabali is releasing on July 22nd, and there is a huge expectation for this film. As the film is gearing up for a very grand release on 22nd July, this week will not have any major Tamil film release. It can be noted that the makers of ‘Ice Age 5: Collision Course’ decided to release their film on 15th of July in India, while the United States release has been planned only on 22nd July. 15th July will have following releases:

1. Ice Age 5: Collision Course (English)
2. Great Grand Masti (Hindi)
3. Anuraga Karikkin Vellam (Malayalam)
4. Selfie Raja (Telugu)

As there are no big Tamil film releases, Santhanam’s Dhilluku Dhuddu and Samuthirakani’s Appa, will continue its run. A similar kind of situation happened during the release of Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Theri, as the week before Theri’s release no major Tamil film got released.
