'Raman Thediya Seethai' - A small slice of a viewer's mind

by mymazaa.com

My name is Sachin Ramachandran and I am one of the lucky guys to win free tickets for 'Raman Thediya Seethai' after playing the 'Win Sita' game in musicmazaa.com and it was with a completely blank mind without any expectations and pre conceived notions that I decided to accompany my friends for this film

Although I have not seen a movie of Cheran before, I have heard him to be a good film maker.

As a sincere follower and well wisher of good cinema, the audience's acceptance of the recently released film 'Raman Thediya Sethai' is indeed something for me to be happy about.

Proving again that it is the story that acts as the back bone of a film, the movie's journey from an underdog amid films of top stars and their great promotions and finally emerging victorious gives me a kind of high.

If anyone asks me the reason of my happiness, the only explanation that I can give is that it would have been a great loss and a discouragement to lots of film makers who love very down to earth simple stories to be made into films if this work would not have worked at the box office.

Be it the casting, acting, the treatment of the subject, the pace and the presentation, every element shines in this clean balanced film meant for all.

What I felt is the strongest point that works in favour of the movie is the believability factor associated with the protagonist and his problems in finding a girl to marry in spite of trying for a long period of time.

Even after being honest with the girls about his brief encounter with a psychological problem in his teenage years, the still happening refusals and his good hearted helping mindset which always wishes for everyone's well being induces great sympathy in the viewer's mind for the central character.

The good and subtle performance of Cheran adds up and I don't think in the recent times we have seen such a character perfectly representing the common man without any kind of spicing up being presented so nicely.

I think I will not be exaggerating if I say that he can be termed as one of the greatest finds of the Tamil cinema in the recent years.

With this film I have become a die hard fan of this immensely talented actor and hats off to the writer and the director of the film to have given him such a different character.

The role portrayed by him is the perfect supporting character that the protagonist can get.

The optimism and mental strength that oozes out of the persona of his character is something that is inspiring and thought provoking.

I am sure that the portrayal of he being immensely successful and happy in life and his explanations on dealing with problems as well as his cool headed attitude would have been an eye opener for a multitude of people having the problem of carrying the inferiority complex around for a long time.

A hidden message that can be fished out from the whole story of the film is one which is a simple fact which will exist till the end of the world.

The truth that having money and the pleasures that it gives need not necessarily bring the ultimate happiness as each and every day is a fight and every one surviving have their own set of problems to solve.

When the posters of the movie were released, I noticed that there was a talk going on around as to what all these heroines will be doing in the movie.

After watching the film, it is hard not to appreciate the makers for the perfect casting.

All the five ladies present in the film have their well written parts to play and they have come up with great performances too.

The way the sub stories as of the tale of the simpleton character of Nithin Satya comes in and after fulfilling its purpose making a smooth exit without disturbing the main narrative increase the plus points of 'Raman Thediya Sitai'.

Although this movie could have been still as good as it is without songs, it was good from director's part not to extend the songs unnecessarily as the well written entertaining scenes were enough to give a nice time.

When a film's poster's proclaim "Complete entertainment for all" we know that most often it is not so as most of the movies are made with just the youngsters preferences in mind.

So the presence of a lot of senior citizens past their sixties in the cinema halls enjoying the movie whole heartedly was something good to see as it is a fact that it is only occasionally that these people take the trouble of coming to the theatres to catch a movie.
