After doing his usual fun movies, Sathyaraj has turned serious.
Sathyaraj is busy shooting for Periyar directed by Gnanarajasekaran.
The shooting commenced a couple of weeks ago at Karaikudi.
Thanking the State government for providing a financial assistance of Rs 95 lakh for the movie being made on the rationalist leader, Sathyaraj, says, 'It is no easy joke acting as Periyar. I listen to his speeches in audio tapes everyday. I tonsure my head everyday.'
Sathyaraj, who had been to meet Chief Minister M Karunanidhi recently and thanked him for his gesture towards the movie, said, 'I should thank the director for giving me an opportunity to act as Periyar. I am great fan of Periyar and today playing the role of my master has given me great joy'.
Sathyaraj, who in the recent past took to commercial films, says, 'It is demanding. But I am keen to give my best'.
Sathyaraj pair in the movie is Jyothirmayi. Yes, the Mallu girl is the one playing the role of Maniyammai, wife of Periyar.
