Actor Singampuli who has acted in a role that is almost to that of a hero in the last week’s solo release ‘Naalu Policum Nalla Irundha Oorum’ started as a supporting actor and he was slowly started getting noted as a good comedian.

Singampuli’s first acting attempt was in director Bala’s 2009 film ‘Naan Kadavul’. Then he played the role of a grown up kid in ‘Mayandi Kudumbathar’ that turned heads towards him as an actor. He slowly developed as a notable comedian with his performance in films ‘Goripalayam’, ‘Eththan’ etc which are mostly set up in rural background. In Ezhil directed ‘Manam Kothi Paravai’ his performance as a friend of Sivakarthikeyan who gets into the hands of villains for the hero’s mistake brought the roofs down and helped Singampuli cement his position as a comedian. Then he became a regular cast member in Ezhil films and his comedy in ‘Desinguraja’ and ‘:Vellaikaradurai’ evoked huge laugher in theatre halls.

Singamupuli has acted in many films in the last couple of years including Vikram Prabhu’s ’Sigarama Thodu’. In most of these films he appeared in just one or two scenes and made an impact with his brand of comedy.
Singampuli possesses a unique dialogue delivery, tone and a body language the traits essential for achieving big in comedy. Though his mainstay seems to be innocent and slapstick comedy, he has showed his ability to mouth satirical verses with the right punch and make people laugh.

His most recent film ‘Naalu Policum Nalla Irundha Oorum’ has proved that he can carry even the emotional and serious scenes very well a rare attribute that was seen with veteran comedians Nagesh and Vadivelu.

And it would be surprising to note that Singampuli did not enter the film industry as an actor. He worked as an assistant director to Sundar.C and Bala. He has also directed two films with Ajith and Suriya.

Can Indiaglitz readers guess those films?
