'Thala' 'Ajith' — These two words are not just mere words or names for a person in Tamil Nadu. Ajith who is considered as an icon, role model apart from an actor is cherished by fans of all ages. The moment his movie was launched, it trended Worldwide and that show's the love of fans. Now we bring you 7 reasons why he is fondly called as 'Emperor of Kollywood'.

1. It was the period where Vijay and Ajith were sailing on same boat. Ajith who suffered loss with 'Rettai Jadai Vayasu' bounced back with the blockbuster 'Kaadhal Mannan' (1998).

2. His 25th movie 'Amarkalam' was a stupendous success. It is known to everyone. But most of them don't know the movie was re-released in 2014 in a digital restored version. Prathyuleka Films which re-released in Digital version made profits and the distributor himself accepted it in an interview.

3. 'Villain' and 'Attagasam' made remarkable profits. 'Attagasam' which showed him as 'Thoothukudi Thala' ran for 200 days in Thoothukudi Raj Cine complex.

4. 'Varalaaru' is both Critical as well as Commercial success. The movie even fetched Filmfare award for Ajith. But there has been lots of rift in Production. However the movie was completed by S.S.Chakravarthy and he grabbed more profits.

5. 'Billa' (2007) became a 'GAME CHANGER' for Ajith. The movie emerged as a cult classic and it was even screened in 61st Cannes Film Festival. Ajith never challenged the Original version nor challenged Rajini's content. But he did it in his own style and that elevated the movie.

6. Post 'Billa', it is just uphill for Ajith. Only 'Billa II' emerged as a below average product. 'Mankatha' which was his 50th movie was an All time Blockbuster. Even though he did cameo in 'English Vinglish', it promoted the movie a lot. 'Veeram' which got released in 2014 along with his counterpart Vijay's 'Jilla' won by a huge margin. Vijay's 'Jilla' turned out to be a massive disaster.

7. Ajith's last release 'Vedalam' got released during rainy season and despite rains and floods, the movie grossed 100 Crores. The movie was a stupendous success and it also became first Blockbuster for Shrutihaasan in Tamil.
