Vedhika not afraid of being typecast

Vedhika Kumar has signed another period romance "Kaaviya Thalaivan" in the same language as she is not "afraid" of being typecast.

"I take it as a compliment because I don't think anybody is bothered about such trivial things nowadays," Vedhika said.

"I'm not afraid of being typecast because I believe period films are not easy to play. If I've been chosen again for a period flick, then probably I have the ability to pull off such roles," she added.

She is paired with Siddharth Suryanarayan in "Kaaviya Thalaivan", which is being directed by National award-winning Tamil director Vasanthabalan.

The movie is said to be based on the real life relationship between singers K.B. Sundarambal and S.G. Kittappa.

Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman has been roped in to score music for the movie.

"I don't have reasons to worry because I'm extremely happy that I will be working with a highly efficient team of Vasanth sir, Rahman sir and my producer Sashikanth. How many get such opportunity," said Vedhika, who is likely to start shooting from July.

"I have already worked with a National Award-winning director in 'Paradesi', and now I will be working with one more award-winning director," she added.

The film also features Prithviraj Sukumaran, Nassar, Thambi Ramaiah and Anaika.

Vedhika clarifies that she received several offers post "Paradesi", but she has been very choosy.

"I received plenty of offers but nothing really excited me as much as this film. I want to do meaningful films and, therefore, agreed to work in the film. I think going back in time will also be a great experience to cherish," she said.
