Director Velu Prabhakaran, known for his iconoclastic and radical themes, is waging a battle with the Censor Board after the board members objected to some scenes in his film Kadhal Arangam.
Addressing media persons, Velu Prabhakaran said, 'The so called objectionable scenes are important in the movie since they deal with the need for sex education in schools.'
He also denied reports that Ilayaraja refused to score music for Periyar since it promotes atheism.
'Ilayaraja had composed music for my movie Kadavul, which denied the existence of God. Hence to paint a bad image on such a talented composer is wrong,' he said.
'I will fight with Censor Board and appeal to the Tribunal Committee to ensure that no scenes are chopped from my film,' he said.
