Performances:
Jayam Ravi is an actor who makes an ordinary scene to turn into something extra ordinary. He is perfect in the role of Kamal and has evolved as a matured actor. Ravi’s expressions in the film are hilarious and Prabhu Deva has got the best out of him. Especially his costumes are trendy and his look appeals to the youth.
Young boys surely fall in love with Hansika’s cute looks in this film. She looks gorgeous like ever. Her on-screen chemistry with Ravi is convincing. Hansika dishes out a satisfactory performance as she perfectly fits her assigned role Lolita.
Veteran actor Suman has done his job effortlessly. Raju Sundaram appears in another miniscule character. Rest of the cast is okay.
Prabhu Deva became a gem in directing heart touching love stories. The entertainment graph of Engeyum Kaadhal goes up and down all along the length of the movie. Story was a simple and makes the movie interesting with a new twist here and there.
Cinematography by Nirav Shah was class work. He explored France locales well. Visually the film looks very colorful special thanks to the camera man. A special mention must be made about the picturisation of songs, they are stunning. Editing by Anthony is adequate.
Songs scored by Harris Jayaraj are peppy, energetic and definitely qualitative. However the background score for the movie helped in elevating the sensitive situations in a better way.
First half of the film is interesting and perfect while second half is emotional which leads to a dramatic climax. The plus points of the movie are Hansika, cinematography and music. On the flip side, the film in some parts seems to be dragging and editing could have been better. We have to wait and see how Engeyum Kaadhal fares at box office this summer.
On a whole, the movie is a romantic and youthful entertainer. Not much of violence, nothing vulgar! Sentiments and emotions connect the formula of this movie. A complete time pass, this movie can be marked as a pass grade in Prabhu Deva’s report card.
