Megastar Chiranjeevi's highly anticipated comeback film 'Khaidi No.150' is one of the most awaited films of Tollywood in the recent times.
Earlier, the film was reported to have been slated for release on 13th January, 2017. However, the latest reports reveal that the release date has been advanced by two days, to 11th January. It is heard that the release date has been changed keeping in view of the high-stakes clash with Balakrishna Nandamuri's 'Gautamiputra Sakakarni' (GPSK).
As per reports, GPSK would most probably hit screens on 12th and 13th is another possible date. In either case, Khaidi No.150 will have to share theaters as well as revenue with GPSK if it makes debut at box office on 13th. Considering that the film's rights have been sold for high rates, distributors wouldn't like this scenario.
On the other hand, with 11th January release, Khaidi No.150 will become the first film at Sankranthi box office and it can get the widest ever release. With hiked ticket rates and renovated theatres in several areas, the film is expected to post big numbers. But, is this 1 or 2 days gap enough for a Chiru starrer before Balakrishna's much awaited film hits screens?
Balakrishna is popularly called 'Sankranthi Hero' given his success rate at this festival season. Audience may also opt for a historical Telugu film rather than a commercial potboiler during the festival season. The memories of the two senior heroes' last Sankranthi clash with their respective films 'Narasimha Naidu' and 'Mruga Raju' might still be haunting the distributors of Khaidi No.150.
Keeping all these factors in mind, makers of Khaidi No.150 may further prepone their film to have a bigger gap with GPSK.
