Shobhan died following a massive heart attack during a storytelling session with Bhoomika. The time was 8pm and he was at Bhoomika's house. Once he collapsed, a shocked Bhoomika called up her husband Bharat Thakur and together they took him to the Madhapur Image Hospitals.
However, despite their efforts, Shobhan succumbed to the attack. Well remembered for his role as the hero's friend in 'Oka Raju Oka Rani', he was also often seen in films in different roles.
He worked as an assistant to Ramgopal Varma and Krishnavamsi before turning a director. The 40-year-old director had directed films such as Babi with Mahesh, Varsham with Prabhas and Chanti with Ravi Teja.
He had also written films such as Murari, before turning a director. He was busy with the shooting of a Kannada film Mayura at the time of his demise.
Various film personalities have expressed shock over his demise and extend their condolences to his family. Prabhas, Tammareddy Bharadwaja, Nagababu, Sunil were among those who went to pay their respects to Shobhan.
