'Inkokkadu' release date confirmed

After a much wait, the release date of 'Inkokkadu' has been confirmed. It's hitting the screens on Sept 8. Starring Vikram in dual roles, the thriller also stars Nayanathara and Nithya Menen. It's directed by Anand Shankar. Producer Neelam Krishna Reddy has sold the distribution rights of the Vikram-starrer to Abhishek Nama of Abhishek Pictures. "Our objective has always been to bring quality cinema to the audience. The producer Shibu Tameens and director Anand Shankar have made Inkokkadu on high technical values. Music director Harris Jayaraj, cinematographer RD Rajashekar and editor Bhuvan Srinivasan are the names. That says it all," the producer says. Reddy had shelled out a fancy price to lay his hands on the rights of this ambitious venture. The rights price was pegged at more than Rs. 11 cr, something unheard of for a Vikram film. Expect Vikram to smash it. He is seen in two roles. One is of a RAW agent, complete with a bearded look. The other one is of a villain by name Love, who is a havoc-creator wreaking a catastrophe with his scientific knowledge. While Vikram looks intense in the former, in the latter, he is quirkiness and eccentricity personified. Watch out for his subtle expression and body movies, complete with that of an old nurse. Nithya Menen plays Vikram's associate (RAW officer on undercover task) and Nayanthara is his love interest. Together with Vikram, Nithya investigates the attack on Indian embassy in Malaysia, where the film is set. Nasser has an important roles. The film will most probably lock horns with 'Jyo Achyutananda'.

Vikram Inkokkadu Release By Abhishek Pictures

Chiyaan Vikram enjoys equally good market in Telugu and Tamil states. He is known for donning variety of get ups and stands just next to Universal Star Kamal Hasan in winning the critics hearts. Although many of Vikram’s Tamil to Telugu dubbed films bombed big time in recent times, there isn’t a shortfall of demand for his movies. ‘Inkokkadu,’ the Telugu dubbed version to Tamil movie ‘Iru Mugan’ has done a fancy business in Telugu states. Early on, a businessman Krishna Reddy bagged the Telugu theatrical rights from original producer Shibu Thameens but later was sold at Rs. 8.5 Crores to Abhishek Pictures. Off late, Nama Abhishek released ‘Kabali’ in Nizam to bear minimal losses. Now, Rs. 8.5 Crores is by all sorts a risky amount given Vikram’s tentative market value. As the film is going to hit the screens in next month, Abhishek Pictures are keeping their confidence high up in front of other buyers quoting high prices for area wise theatrical rights. Vikram is playing dual roles among which one includes a transgender. Nayanathara, Nithya Menon are female leads while Anand Shankar is the director

Abhishek Pictures Bags 'Inkokkadu' For The Good Price

National award winning actor Vikram’s “Inkokkadu” is set for a release soon. And the Telugu distribution rights have been bagged by Abhishek Pictures for a phenomenal Rs 8.5cr. The production house had recently bagged many big movies and distributed Kabali. Vikram has got a decent fan base in Telugu and his films have always been loved by Telugu audience because of his attempts at different characterisations. Ever since “Aparichithudu”, his stakes have been high and one hopes even this film will hit the bull’s-eye. It is learnt that in this movie, Vikram has done a dual role, one as a transgender with negative shades and the other of an undercover cop. Nayanatara and Nithya Menen are playing the lead roles in the film. Anand Shankar has directed this action thriller which is stated for a September 9 release.

Vikram Clarified neither transgender or Gay in Inkokkadu

Vikram's transgender get-up in up-and-coming 'Inkokkadu' ('Iru Muguan' in Tamil) has become a hit with the audience ever since it was first revealed through a trailer. Saying that the role couldn't have been kept a secret, Vikram adds that the audience needed to be prepared as to what is in store before they watch such a one. Weeks before the release (the Tamil version is hitting the marquee on Sept 2, while the Telugu version may be released a week later) of a film that is going to unveil Vikram in a never-seen-before avatar, the National Award winner says that Love is "neither gay nor a transgender". He only means to say that there is more to him than the biological categorization. Director Anand Shanakr has etched the character in such a way that it defies stereotypes, the actor adds. The story is more about the clash between the two Vikrams - one is a RAW officer and the other, a doctor on rampage. Revealing that even the line "Nuvvu Raja.. nenu Rani" in the trailer was deliberately inserted to raise curiosity, Vikram gives a pat on the director's back for his meticulousness and detailing.
