Veeramum Eeramum - Action all the way
Director Sanjay Ram has come out with yet another movie based on underworld.

Quite typical to his earlier films €˜Thoothukudi€™ and €˜Aadu Puli Aatam€™, €˜Veeramum Iramum€™ features underworld and their violent ways of life. The movie is inspired by the life of gangster Venkatesa Pannaiyar, who was killed in an encounter by the police.

Saravanan, who hogged the limelight playing Chitappu in Ameer's €˜Paruthiveeran€™, plays the male protagonist. Emotions and action come quite comfortably for Saravanan, who plays Sankaran Pannaiyar, who commands the respect of villagers. He has got the nuances right and fits the role like a T.

Sudhakar Vasanth as a menacing baddie is adequate. His cruel looks and body languages deserve special mention.
Supporting Sanjay Ram strongly in the movie are excellent work by Leo behind the lens and the crisp editing by Sai Suresh.

Sankaran Pannaiyar adopts violent means only to maintain peace in the village. He is pitted against his sibling Semmari (Sudhakar Vasantjh), who vows to finish off Pannaiyar and his family. The two are more often than not fighting one another. When things go out of control in the village, the police force steps in. The local Superintendent of Police Veerasangili (Deepan Chakravarthy) is entrusted with the job of restoring peace in the village.

A strict officer, he adopts various means to bring the two under control. When all his attempts fail, he is forced to take the extreme step. The cast includes Thanu Roy and Alex among others. Sanjay Ram plays a pivotal role.

Sanjay Ram is apparently inspired by movies like Nayakan, Thevar Magan and Virumandi. The coastal areas of gangsters in Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Nagerkovil are caught well on the screen. All characters and their background are well etched by the director who has also written the story and screenplay.

Music is by Yugendran, son of veteran playback singer Malaysia Vasudevan.

Veeramum Eeramum is a raw action-film, sure to provide delight to action-buffs. Resembling Ramgopal Verma's films on underworld but with an earthy flavor, Veeramum Eeramum is a movie that is sure to leave an impact with Tamil audience.
