Lucky Star, at the name suggest brought lucky for Jayaram after a long time. A well made light hearted family drama, has Jayaram backs in his familiar territory, and will not disappoint us with his good performance. While the former half concentrate on the fun part, later part proved to be a serious watch with some essential plots.

First timer Deepu Anthikad came up with a brilliant directorial venture with Lucky Star. A family subject, with at-most sincerely he crafted into a good tale. While he also shows his brilliants in making each characters role is worth taking back home. Lucky Star happens to be the big come back for Jayaram, while it also made the platform for the big screen entry of actress Rachana Narayanakutty. On the flip side we may point out the overly dramatic climax scenes, could have been written convincingly. Even then as a director Deepu Anthikad made his mark in his first film and we can bring lots of good films from this young director.

Coming to the story which focuses of a time frame of seven years has Jayaram playing Ranjith, a small time tailor. And he has his wife Janaki (Rachana), an ex junior artist, and a daughter Megha in his small family. However Ranjith wanted to become rich, and want to live with all happiness what money can bring to him ??? And he thinks either he has to win a lottery or become a film star. However they failed miserably in all those attempts. During those times doctor Joseph Chitilappalli (Mukesh) asks Janaki to become a surrogate mother. And what follows with the child forms the rest of the story.

Deepu Anthikad, brings lot of hilarious moment right from the word go. And was really a treat of watching Lucky Star which got everything, be it comedy, sentiments , songs or even an Item Number. The best thing that Deepu was able to pack and structure all of them perfectly. Not a moment I felt the audience lost their connection with the proceedings. Still I think the final moments is a let down compared to be what we have got from the movie. The songs by Ratheesh Vega once again stole the lime light. Was really suiting the proceedings. Same goes for cinematography as well as editing.

Jayaram looked damn confident and was perfect in his role, and was treat to watch him in his full confident performance. Rachana got a role which is a dream for a debut actress. As in her small screen she came up with a very convincing act. Though the role was limited Mukesh also came up with a good job. The rest of the supporting actors had their moments, with Deepu’s writing skills provide them to show case their talent.
