Musafir Review

Story:

A weak tale, the story is about Anupama (mamta) who is the daughter of the rich tycoon GK (cochin haneefa). She is into various charity acts and focuses on encouraging singing and music talents. At that point, she comes across Humayun (rahman) an aspiring singer. At first she declines but is later struck by his talent of singing. Eventually his various talents impress her and she falls in love with him. Just when she convinces her father, Humayun gives a twist that he needs permission from his Guru Musafir for the marriage. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director has come up with a thoughtful storyline and while the presentation was extravagant, the narrative was not that good enough. The dialogues were routine. The script was weak and the screenplay was not that gripping. The background score was good but songs were not that impressive. Cinematography was excellent. Editing was required in some places. Costumes were superb while the art department was impressive. Rahman looks handsome and he has given a very good performance. Mamta Mohandas got wasted. Cochin Haneefa was neat. Lalu Alex was usual. Bala was regular. The others were there to fill the screen.

Conclusion:

The film has been in the making over the past few years and finally it got completed. Though it boasted of being shot across different foreign countries and a lot of money has been spent, the film really suffered in the content and the execution department. The first half goes about with elements of some romance and humour but the second half gets confusing and complicated. Overall, this is a film which should have been more better in terms of impact. At the box office, the film will find it very hard to earn back its investment.
