Story:

Shakthi [Inigo Prabhakaran] and Joseph [Vijay Sethupathi] joins a college in Sivagangai district as classmate/roommates and Soori co-joins. As the story progresses, Sakthi fell in love with Meenakshi [Gayathrie Shankar]. One fine day, Sakthi and Joseph are forced to vacate hostel for locking horns with one of their classmates and they shift to the room nearby. Here Rummy takes a turn, when Joseph falls for Aishwarya Rajesh, daughter of Village head played by Joe Malluri. Joe and his people are against love apparently plans to end up Joesph and Aishwarya's lives, after they elopes. Did they succeed in their love? What happens next? Watchout Rummy for its bold climax...

Performances:

Inigo Prabhakaran could have done better. As the main lead Sakthi, he was given much space that he couldn't hold longer.

Vijay Sethupathi comes as a shocker to audiences, as he is not the main lead but hero's friend. Vijay has delivered honest performance as Joseph in supporting role.

Gayathrie Shankar and Aishwarya Rajesh have done a good job as female leads. Soori was okay and his one-liners worked big time.

Technical Analysis:

Debutant director K. Balakrishnan has to be appreciated for coming up with a plot driven film, though his choice of cast and slow paced narration are to look for.

D. Imman is an important pillar of Rummy, who draw audiences attention frame to frame. Rummy music album was already a hit and the composer deserves a special mention for background scores.

C. Premkumar's cinematography is worth mentioning, as the brightness and the colours looked apt in all the frames. 'kooda mela kooda' song is bliss on screen with beautiful visuals.

Editing by Raja Mohammed could have to crisp as the movie is a bit slow at pace.

Analysis:

Rummy is perfect romantic entertainer in 80's milieu and the limited impact of action thriller is one of the highlights in the movie. Rummy cast was appropriate and even the supporting characters were given decent length. A well crafted film with expected twists and turns and slow narration are drawbacks.

Rummy first half is a light-hearted romantic tale, while viewers have to wait for the second half for twists and turns in the story that ends up filmy.
