Whatever you may say about Silambarasan and whether you may like his insouciance, you have to agree that when it comes to performance on screen, the gut sure packs a punch.And that's where it counts.

After proving his acting skills in Manmadhan, Silambarasan has performed an angry young man's Totti Jaya with a modicum of conviction and ease.

Simbu plays a goon who gets reformed after falling in love and later takes revenge on an underworld don who comes across his love life in the movie.

Though a much-repeated storyline in Tamil filmdom, the fast narration by director Durai combined with R D Rajasekar's good work behind the camera and Anthony's brisk editing make the movie engrossing.

Silambarasan's emotions and Gopika's subtle performance add weight to the film.

Rowdy Totti Jaya (Silambarasan), works for a don Seena Thana(Pradeep Rawath). Totti Jaya runs away to Kolkata to escape a murder case. In the event, he rescues Brindha (Gopika), who is on a tour to Kolkata from Kaniyakumari, and misses the train and gets caught in the hands of some anti-socials.

She requests Totti Jaya to accompany her back home. Impressed by his love and care, she gets attracted towards him. Totti Jaya too gradually develops a love for her.

Eventually he comes to know that she is the daughter of Seena Thana,being brought up in Kaniyakumari.

Coming to know of her daughter's love with Totti Jaya, Seena Thana sends his men to bump him off.

The rest is all about how Totti Jaya foils all plans of Seena Thana and eventually holds the hands of Brindha.

Silambarasan has improved leaps and bounds as an actor. He has played the role of an angry youth with measured aggression. He is sure to win the laurels of the audience for his performance especially towards the climax. Unfortunately Pradeep Rawath, who plays the baddie, shouts at the top of his voice.

Gopika looks cute and her acting has a touch of elegance. She is utterly believable in the young girl's role.

Harris Jeyaraj has come up with some racy numbers to suit the mood of the film. The supporting cast includes V M C Haneefa, Sundar, Vadivukkarasi and Sadhana.

Durai shows that he has the gumption to wove a good story and thread it with acceptable logic and script.

On the whole, Totti Jaya is the right appetite for action-lovers.
