Lakshyam Review

Lakshyam - Gopichand, Jagapatibabu excel in multi-starrer
Gopichands started building his career by doing negative roles in two films, as his debut film as hero was a flop. After proving himself as an artiste with calibre, he made a re-entry as hero with Yagnam and from then on there is no looking back for him.

His films like Ranam, Andhrudu and Okkadunnadu were proved hits.

Gopichand promoted Srivas as director for his latest film Lakshyam. Srivas is not new to industry but his entry into films is as a camera assistant through Annamayya.

Producer Bujji who gave a hit like Lakshmi with Venkatesh last year, is sure to bag another hit with Lakshyam. At a time when everyone is talking about multi-starrer films, this film came as a fitting reply.

Chandu (Gopichand) is a college student and has a happy family €” father (Kota Srinivasa Rao), mother, elder brother Bose (Jagapati Babu), sister-in-law (Kalyani) and a niece Pinky (Baby Kalki Mitra). Indu (Anushka) and Chandu fall in love with each other.

Bose is a sincere police officer and always acts tough against any outlaw. Section Shankar (Yashpal Sharma) is a goon and always commits different crimes without leaving any evidence or clue. Once Shankar takes Rs 100 crore loan from a bank by luring the chairman of the bank with political power.
When Chandu starts cracking down on the Shankars empire, the bank chairman demands return of money. Shankar with the help of Shafi (Amit) one of the friends of Chandu who is known for doing gimmicks with electronics kills that bank chairman and in return asks to get him Indu, whom he liked in his first sight.

When the customers of the bank stage protest, Bose arrests the bank manager but during interrogation gets grievously injured in the hands of Shafi, Shankar and the DCP. Even Chandu comes to his rescue when some goons were about burn him alive but Bose dies in the hands of Chandu, leaving a clue about Shafi. Chandu bashes Shafi and learns who were behind Boses death. The film ends with Chandu taking revenge against the DCP and Shankar.

It is tailor-made story to perfectly match Gopichand and the performance was a cakewalk for him. He showed good ease in action scenes as well as in dances.

Anushka filled the glamour slot and had no big role to play.

Jagapatibabu played the role of a tough cop with good ease. His boldness in accepting a role which would end in death needs compliments.

Yashpal Sharmas villainy and comedy by Brahmanandam is good.
Kalyani played an important role. Kota, Raghubabu and other did justice to their roles.

Manisharmas music is another highlight of the film.

The first half runs smoothly but the second half turned too serious with revenge drama. Though there is no novelty in the narration, the director had put in good efforts to avoid boring scenes.

The entry of Asish Vidyarthi and his performance in the climax is good to watch. Action scenes were choreographed in a stylish way.
