Prayanam Review

Good intentions are just only a halfway street. One has to convert those altruistic thoughts into workable good actions. If there is a shadow between the two, the whole thing is a waste.

The film Prayatnam is a good example of that. The ideas and the thoughts espoused in the film are indeed noble. But somehow the forced tone and the preachy tenor undo it all.

The film is all about Prithvi (Prithvi) a rich man's son falling in love with a poor girl (Sujitha). When the father puts his foot down on their marriage, the son just walks away with the girl, marries her and begins life on his own terms. When he sets out to business on borrowed money, he falls prey to a confidence trickster and loses all that he has. He has two options before him --- suicide or fight back. He chooses the latter, mercifully.

Apart from the basic story and the inherent positive ideas, the film is amateurish and has little by way of cinematic excellence. The acting is okay but the technical aspects are not up to scratch.

It may be tempting to say Prayatnam is a good try. But it is not.
