Rabecca Uthuppu Kizhakkemala Review

Story:

A boring tale, the story is set on the backdrop of a hilly village called Kizhakkemala and it is famous for one person, an athlete Rebecca (ann) who won the gold medal in 400 meters at Asian Games. Her father Uthup (sai kumar) comes from a humble background. Meanwhile, all those relatives who cut their contacts now come back in touch with them. Rebecca is engaged to Kuruvila (jishnu). At the same time she also prepares for Olympics. The story takes a turn with the arrival of her new coach (Siddharth) and what happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director has come up with an outdated storyline and while the presentation was good, the narrative was extremely boring. The dialogues were stale. The script was way below average and the screenplay was testing. The background score was not that great and songs were not upto the mark. Cinematography was the saving grace. Editing was required at many places especially during the second half. Costumes were natural and suited the backdrop while the art department was alright. Ann Augustine didn’t really fit into the role of an athlete given her voluptuous figure, Sai Kumar was good, Jishnu was okay, Siddharth was alright, the others did their bit as required.

Conclusion:

The film comes across as a subject with a sports backdrop which would have been very inspiring but instead it turns out to be like a TV serial on the big screen. The first half goes about with the elements of melodrama, sentiment and some family bonding. The second half goes about with the internal politics, deceit and the usual emotional sentiments. Overall, this is a film which has been nowhere near the satisfactory levels. At the box office, this will not work.
