Gowtham SSC Review

It is one of the oldest formulae in the book. A seemingly good for nothing guy who is given up as a wastrel. But when the fires of his ambitions are stoked, he rises up like phoenix and proves his detractors wrong. We have seen this cliched script in any number of films. We also see it in Gowtham SSC. But makes the film passable is its unmistakable youthful feel and good production values. Further, the acting department is also well taken care of.

Gowtham (Navdeep) is the eponymous hero. Despite his father (Nasser) being an IAS officer, he flunks in his studies. His family members are also pretty good in academics. So, they give up hope on him. But spurred and inspired by Janaki (Sindhu Tolani) and another woman (Bhanupriya),Gowtham does the unbelievable. He makes it to the civil services and also unties knotty problems in his family.

The story is as old as the sky. But Navdeep is pretty matured in his role and is believable in emoting the different stages in his characterization. His youthful good looks is also a plus point. Sindhu Tolani is a good foil to him. She does her role with quiet efficiency. The glamour part is taken care of by Madhu Sharma. Seniors like Nasser, Bhanupriya do not let down. The comedy department is pretty okay.

Anoops musical score is energetic and fits in with the mood of the movie. The melodies will go down well with the young set. J Siva Kumars camera work is pretty cool and easy on the eye.

Arun Prasad, as a director, has shown a tendency to hark back on his previous films. But he has redeemed himself by distilling youthful fervor all through the movie.

Gowthan SSC surely has scored more than pass marks.
