Jamshad Cethirakath (born 11 December 1980 as ), known by his stage name Arya is an Indian film actor, who mainly appears in Tamil films. He is best known for his roles in the films Pattiyal (2006), Naan Kadavul (2009), Sarvam, Arinthum Ariyamalum, Madrasapattinam (2010), Boss Engira Bhaskaran (2010) & Vettai (2012).
Arya is a Keralite-born Tamil film actor. He is best known for his lead performances in the films Arinthum Ariyamalum, Pattiyal and Naan Kadavul.
Arya born in Trichy,Tamil Nadu in South India to a Muslim Family, He graduated with an engineering degree from Crescent Engineering College, based at Vandalur, Chennai. He did his schooling in SBOA Matriculation and Higher Secondary School, Chennai.
Arya initially worked as a computer engineer, however, his passion for filming brought him to modelling before debuting in Jeevas Ullam Ketkumae, which also marked the debuts of Asin Thottumkal and Pooja Umashankar. The film also starred Laila and Shaam, but the film was delayed only releasing after Arinthum Ariyamalum. In Arinthum Ariyamalum, Arya played as son to Prakash Raj in a critically acclaimed role which won him Filmfare Best Debut Award South and Best New Male Face Award at the Filmfare Awards. Arinthum Ariyamalum and Ullam Ketkumae both made it large at the box-office.
His next film Oru Kalluriyin Kathai also made it big at the box-office and Arya was touted as the next pin-up boy of Kollywood. His next, Kalabha Kadhalan was an average grosser at the box office. Pattiyal with Bharath broke records in B and C centre all over Tamil Nadu. He played the role of an underworld hit man in the film. His latest projects Naan Kadavul which released after 3 years in making and much hyped Sarvam, couldnt do much at the box office, but were critically acclaimed. He is essaying a negative character in his debut Telugu film Varudu opposite Allu Arjun.
Arya has also ventured into film production in order to promote new talents and help funding small budget films. In 2010, he established the banner "The Show People" and first produced his Boss Engira Bhaskaran, following which he produced newcomer Sukanth's Padithurai, which is currently in post-production stage.

The South Indian Film Artistes Association (SIFAA), however, supported Arya, condeming Guhanathan "for making irresponsible and false statements" about an actor who "strives for the welfare of Tamil film industry. Arya eventually clarified in a letter, that he had "never made derogatory statements about the Tamil film industry which was his "bread and butter further quoting: "I can never forget such a support extended by my fans. If I had hurt anyone's feelings, I am really sorry about that.
