Gombegala Love Review

Story:

A touching tale, the story begins with a boy (arun) and girl (pavani) who share a love and hate relationship but eventually can't stop living without each other. The story takes a turn when fate strikes a cruel blow and they are affected by polio. Though both are immobile they stick together and they are taken care of by a caretaker (shruthi). The blow comes when the caretaker dies and the couple is left isolated until the police arrives. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director has come up with a heart wrenching subject and while the presentation was nice, the narrative was good in second half. The dialogues were average. The script was routine but the screenplay was not upto the mark. The background score was okay and only one song was worth watching. Cinematography was adequate. Editing was required a lot during the first half. Costumes were regular while the art department was natural. Pavan got into his character very well and excelled, same with Pavani. The real showstealer was Shruthi as she brought energy into the film.

Conclusion:

Kannada films tend to have a strong inclination towards tragedy but in order to churn out that pain there should be good grip over the screenplay, that was missing here. The film's first half is very loose and takes away the interest of the audience. It is only the second half which makes up for the first half and scores to an extent. But still that is not good enough to get a hit at the box office. This could work with a little emotional audience.
