Chappati upma is an innovative upma recipe with left over chapattis soaked and then cooked with onion, mustard seeds, curry leaves, lime juice and chopped coriander leaves. An excellent breakfast item, chapatti upma is easy and delicious.

Preparation Method

  1. 01 Cut chapathis into as small pieces as possible. Please do not powder them.
  2. 02 Heat Oil/Ghee and add Mustard and Urad Dal.
  3. 03 When Mustard starts popping and daal becomes slightly brownish, add Curry Leaves, green Chilies and Asafoetida.
  4. 04 Add Onion and Turmeric Powderr. Fry Till Onion turn translucent and then add Tomatos and saute it.
  5. 05 Add chapathi pieces (if chapathi is very hard, sprinkle some Water), Salt and Sugar. Mix all ingredients for sometime (do not fry for a long time, otherwise the chapathi pieces become hard).
  6. 06 Garnish with Coconut and chopped Coriander Seedss leaves. Mix well.
  7. 07 Serve hot.
