Tindora and chana is one of those amazing and tasty dishes that would truly refresh your palates and ask for more. Tindora is also known as Dondakaya in Telugu, Kundru in Hindi, Parwal in Marathi and Ivy gourd in English.

Tindora fry or Dondakaya vepudu is one of the popular side dishes that is made regularly in most of Indian household. It’s a very tasty and crispy fry dish. The same is the Tindora with chana dal is not a fry but a thick gravy dish that goes well with chapatti or roti.

Preparation Method

  1. 01 Pressure cook ivy gourd and chana separately unTil they are cooked to about 2 whistles.
  2. 02 Powder the Dried red chili, Cumin and Coriander Seedss seeds in a mixer.
  3. 03 After they are powdered, add Coconut Grated and churn them further without adding Water. Keep aside.
  4. 04 Heat Oil in a kadai.
  5. 05 Temper with Mustard, Haldi, Asafoetida powder and Curry Leaves.
  6. 06 6. Add the masala mixture prepared in step 2 to the tadka and saute for a while.
  7. 07 7. Add cooked ivy gourd and chana.
  8. 08 8. Add Salt and mix well.
  9. 09 9. Remove from stove and add Lemon Juice.
  10. 10 10. Serve hot with Rice or rotis!
